So here they are. Raw Fleeces, Washed Locks, Roving, Yarns, Rug-bumps, and Socks! Leicester Longwools are renowned for their luster and it stays with the fiber through washing, combing, spinning, and dying. The glow from these yarns, even the dyed ones, resembles mohair. It's spectacular. And the spinning has been done to showcase the glow and feel of the wool. The yarns are soft and wonderful to work with.
I've tried to describe the colors in case there's some distortion between the photos and your monitor. Yardage is estimated based on information supplied by the mills. Approximate yardage per skein will give you an idea of the weight. We do not guarantee exact yardage or weight. Use the "Contact Us" form on the Home Page to place an order. Natural colored roving, soft and spinnable. The long staple is user friendly and suited to many styles of yarn, including lace weight. I recommend a looser spin to keep it soft and glowing.

I had a little trouble with the exposure on this one. It's not quite as bright as the picture indicates. It's warmer and richer. This yarn is a soft slubby spun combination of the copper and cranberry above so it coordinates perfectly. I'll try to get a better photo up soon. This one is a heavier bulky spin. Like the Eggplant slub above, it's long on character. Yardage is approximate.
Copper Slub - 110 yds / 4oz skein, $30

Rug Bumps

These rug bumps are self striping when knitted or woven. One bump will weave a rug approx. 2'x5'. One bump is approximately 90 yards. I've seen these knitted into a tote bag as well that was stunning. They have a wool yarn core with roving wrapped around it for a very sturdy product. Use the coned yarn above for your warp and you are ready to weave. The Greener ShadesTM colors are a warm muted rainbow of grape to red. We have these in natural creamy white as well.

Socks - 70% Leicester Longwool / 30% nylon - $28 a pair

Soft and super warm, these are the best boot socks ever. These are very thick socks, perfect for farming, hunting, or any other activities where your feet get cold. Wool is naturally wicking and retains its warming properties even when wet. They are tall, up to your knee in most cases. They have a terry loop knit that keeps them soft against your skin and adds to their ability to keep your feet toasty. If you are particularly sensitive to wool, I recommend a silk liner, but personally I don't find these to be at all itchy. It's the terry knit. I wash mine in the machine, cold on delicate, and hang to dry. Hand washing would be fine as well, maybe better, but the machine works. Just don't put them in the dryer. These are natural Leicester Longwool with approx. 30% nylon for stretch, memory, and to minimize shrinkage. The socks are sized 6-8, 9-11, 10-13, and 13-15 for you big guys. Between the stretch and some minor shrinkage in the wash these sizes coordinate pretty well to men's or women's shoe sizes. I wear a size 10 women's and the 9-11's work. My husband wears an 11 men's and the 9-11s or the 10-13s work for him.
